Over the past few weeks, I shared some thoughts on X/Twitter about civility and compassion given recent events. I believe they are worth noting here so that residents know more about me and the values I have.

I sincerely wrestled with the issue of rent stabilization since I was elected to the City Council last November. I studied the County’s bill after it was passed and have been following their process toward implementation.

Rockville City Councilmember Marissa Valeri, who recently took office, said she’s no stranger to the problems on Veirs Mill Road. She said speed has always been an issue for the area.

It’s no wonder that a lot of folks are cynical when it comes to politics. All of a sudden, you see an elected official in your neighborhood when you didn’t see them in the non-election years. Candidates promise and say just about anything to sway voters. But are they telling you the truth?

Marissa Valeri is a 46-year-old physician outreach specialist with more than 25 years of experience working for non-profits in the areas of health policy and good governance. She's also on the Nov. 7 ballot in the Rockville City Council race.

“Marissa Valeri, who is also running for City Council, said she also thinks the hiring process should be managed by the new council, but that she doesn’t think it would be finished before the election anyway. ’The whole process takes so long — the vetting, the whole interview process … it’s just inconceivable that it would happen before the election,’ she said.”

Every year on September 22nd, folks around the DC Metro area take the day off from driving their car. I have personally taken the pledge each year since I found out about it. But why?

“Montgomery County native and Rockville community leader Marissa Valeri is running for a seat on the Rockville City Council in this November’s election. Valeri’s campaign said in a statement that she is the only Council candidate from the east side of Rockville Pike to declare their candidacy so far. The filing deadline for submitting a nominating petition is September 8, 2023.”

Rockville Mayor and Council have hearings scheduled at the end of January and in February to begin the process of reviewing the commission's work and possibly adopting their recommendations. “
